Round 10 - Saturday Mar 18

Comp Race 10 - The Valley R9

Bye: KELLY'S HEROES (2nd)

The Desperados' hopes were never raised in the last so The Reapers for whom Hesi (with a BB) and Moose scored, held on to win taking a bonus point for a team profit. Secret Squirrel got the final collect for The Desperados for whom Maurice was MVP. Moose - with a big score - pipped Antz for Man of the Match honours. Jamison got the final winner for Kelly's Heroes who took a point for coming 2nd on aggregate with Wrinkles their MVP.

1 MAX FACTORY (8th)

$697.40

The Dream Team - for whom Stevie bagged a BB in the last to take Man of the Match honours - had it won before the final race with Max Factory enduring their 6th blank of the day. Pam was Match Star for the Factory. The Dream Team took a bonus point for the 4-1 margin.

4 COYOTES (5th)

$2387.20

The Union Jacks' savior result never looked likely so The Coyotes scored a comfortable win ending with real fireworks as Craig snagged the juicy quinella and Maria bagged an absolute ripper BB quinella to post a personal score to almost match the UJ's team total ! Craigs quinella also saw him run down Geoff at the death for a maximum points return. Accordingly the Coyotes took bonus points for a team profit and 5-0 margin. Maria was of course supreme Match Star while Geoff pipped Tonka for Union Jacks' MVP honours.

3 BELIEVERS (9th)

$588.20

2 points

2 RAMONES (7th)

$1022.00

1 point

Dunkel was no chance after going about 23 wide on the tight Moonee Valley final bend so The Believers held on for a long awaited win with Lightning Blue getting the final winner to claim team MVP honours. Richie - with 7 winners - had an outstanding Man of the Match performance also labeling the Arrowfield-bred winner in the last. The Ramones took a bonus point for a superior aggregate - difficult to achieve with just 3 in play.

There has been considerable debate on the selection posting thread regarding Sarah and Jason's missing selections. You can read my decision there.

Just a quick thanks to Rex and your Desperados.  It was still winnable for you guys with a 2-3 races to go, but not to be.  We will take the win, well played Reapers, 2 or 3 always step up to the mark.  Let's hope a few overtake us in the next few weeks, or that triple joker will be looking a bit sad

Thanks as always PJ, handled professionally and competently

Not a great run overall from Captains this version of PJ comps, with on more than one occasion a set of selections not subbed-in for missing personnel, and scratchings not replaced for those team-mates who did get entries in. :classic_sad:

You are most welcome tp put your name forward in future comps, Howie. Lead the way, bro!

MM

Lead the way for some 12 to 15 years Maxi, long before you arrived.
Yeah sure I know my efforts weren't ever appreciated - 33 of 36 - but I did unfailingly manage to fulfil my Captaincy role, as I said, for 12 to 15 years.
You may not think so Maxi ... but there would be an admittedly small pocket of participants present and past who would say that I did my bit. Certainly we never went in a man (or woman) down on my watch.
Hesi is of the view that 'we try our best'. I take the view that some need to do better.

Dream Team go further ahead with Charbano or Doddle

Desperados pull one back with Maryweka, draw level with Decision Time and seize the lead with Miss Dunsford (must pay LESS than $6.70 otherwise at $6.80+ they just pull one back)

Reapers draw level with Doddle (and go 2-0 ahead if it pays $6.80+ or Miss Dunsford completes the Q), Goldie's Chance or Decision Time

Kelly's Heroes go further ahead with Night Raider and go 3-zip clear with Let's Go while Maryweka helps

Believers go ahead with Miss Dunsford or Maryweka and go two ahead with Doddle or La Bella Nera

Coyotes go ahead with Decision Time, go two ahead with Goldie's Chance and go 5-zip clear with Blue Solitaire

Union Jacks pull one back with La Bella Nera, Miss Dunsford or Night Raider, draw level with Blue Solitaire (must pay $6.80+ or Charbano complete the Q) and seize the lead with Charbano while Maryweka helps

Despite what you might think, some of us have lives outside of Raceplace on a Saturday.Last week I got unexpectedly tied up for longer than I thought. We have a group chat and everybody posted in that early  so I had checked for scratchings and when we didnt have any I wasnt that worried and decided I didnt need to check anything.

yep, Maxi is just a newbie in comparison. One idea that I thought had merit was for a (random) set of picks to be on standby for unexpected circs - eg Blind Squirrel today

MM

Yes Max but that just creates more issues. Who compiles the picks and who posts them ? What happens if two people don't post ? What happens if they are actual opponents in the HTHs ? It IS a team contest so some component of teamwork is needed.

It just needs someone from each team to be available at 1 hour from the start of each race to make sure everyone has posted. Doesn't have to be the Captain.

Once again sorry boys

Don't sweat it mate. things happen. Jason had an issue last week. Only a miracle I got in today as well >> Internet has been going off and on in my suburb past 2 days (which has never happened before that I recall)  and was connected just long enough last night to drop a few picks in during the Lions game last night posting early just in case. Then it dropped out again and has only come on just past hour .

Best of luck All having a punt today. Can't wait to see Prowess Go !!!🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇

Up until last year you could see everybody's selections so when I was captain I would check early and it was easy to see who had posted. Now you only have a set time to check so a lot more scope for error
