To win:

Swamp Foxes need-

Alegron to win for Rees

OR

Arnaqueur to win for Maria

Chiefs need-

Arnaqueur to win for Ian and Punter Pete

Blues need-

Hard to extrapolate this one due to the tied match. Howie has Arnaqueur & French Emperor while Wrinkles has gone for Head of State and Profondo. Neither of Howie's pair will get the Blues the win though. Looks like the Blues can't win but happy to be proven wrong.

The Ferdies can't win but can take one match off the Otago boys with Notions, Head of State, Algernon, Profondo or Arnaqueur (take two off at $13.40+)

Round 1 - Saturday September 25

Race 10 - Rosehill R9

Scr: 13,16

4 TURBOS

$1099.40

1 CHIEFS

$654.40

Arnaqueur only battled in the straight so The Turbos held on to win with all their team except Steve finding the J Mac winner with Ray, Ziggy and The Squirrel - their MVP - all doubling up with BBs to give the aggregate a healthy boost. Stevie bagged a nice BB quinella on his own for The Chiefs in the last which secured him Man of the Match honours. The Turbos took a bonus point for the 4-1 margin.

173.00 Ziggy

59.80 Ian

339.60 Blind Squirrel

12.00 Jack

91.60 Steve P

365.00 Stevie N

1 BLUES

$997.40

The Magpies had it won before the last where Hesi, Blazes and Wrinkles all labeled the quinella with Wrinkles finally triumphing over Howie. Gordy bagged a BB in the last to pass Porky and restrict the Magpies to the minimum winning margin while Pete also bagged a BB to take Man of the Match honours with a great score on a difficult day and Geoff also went out with a collect. Newcomer Blazes was a very impressive MVP on debut for the Bay boys. No bonus points were scored.

139.00 Rob

497.00 Pete

462.20 Blazes

127.00 Roland

83.60 Wrinkles

12.00 Howie

3 KAURI KATS

$812.80

2 SWAMP FOXES

$742.40

The Swamp Foxes had two chances to steal it in the last but Alegron's 4th was the closest they got with Robert (with a BB) and Man of the Match Von Smallhausen (6 winners) completing their scoring. Pam and The Kats' MVP Sharne also found the Waller winner in the last each with best bets. Robert managed to nail Max but Pam reeled in Richie to preserve the Kats' victory. No bonus points were earned.

122.00 Graeme

78.00 Maria

300.80 Sharne

44.00 Rees

173.00 Pam

72.00 Richie

4 HIGHLANDERS

$1109.40

3 points

The Otago boys had it wrapped up before the last but they were denied an extra bonus point when Maurice landed a beaut BB quinella to collar Craig with Heather also snagging the quinella. Happy went 3-for-3 in the last on his own for the Highlanders who took a bonus point for a 4-1 margin. Mardy was Man of the Match for the victors while Maurice, finding form back in the Amber-and-Gold, was 'Naki MVP.

103.00 Tom

144.00 Rex

312.00 Maurice

186.80 Craig

12.00 Zac

195.60 Happy

178.60 PJ

228.20 Rusty

TABLE after ROUND 1

1st 3 HIGHLANDERS $1109.40

2nd 3 TURBOS $1099.40

3rd 2 MAGPIES $1187.40

4th 2 KAURI KATS $812.80

5th 0 BLUES $997.40

6th 0 FERDIES $882.40

7th 0 SWAMP FOXES $742.20

8th 0 CHIEFS $654.40

The harness lads of the Highlanders made a great start defeating the Ferdies with the day's 2nd best tally and were never behind at any stage. The Turbos also enjoyed a dominant win and lie just behind the leaders on aggregate. Wins for the Magpies and Kauri Kats see them in the top half of the table after the first round while the remaining 4 teams look to next week to find some improvement. Looks like it's going to be a fairly close comp.

Firstly congratulations Maurice ..... too good for me again!

I reckon you must lead me about 9-1 in Head-to Heads.

Whilst on Maurice (now the horse) I saw a lovely 2yo by him trained by Gai & Adrian that won the first trial on Monday.

Many thanks PJ for your efforts.

To my team ......... Well done , who'd of thought us Southern Harness boys would be in front albeit on countback!

I should take a photo!!

Until next week see ya's then,

Looking forward to Aussie Rules Final.

Thanks to the Chiefs today - the Turbos came out on top but one result could have changed the whole picture - something that never ceases to amaze me in these comps.

Not a great day for my opponent Jack but he will bounce back like the good man he is.

Good stuff Turbos - very positive start and something to build on!

Thanks PJ - your magic touch appreciated as always.

Until next week - go the Ab's and go Europe in the Ryder Cup - just don't want to hear that USA chant again!

Thanks for the match today, Howie and the Blues, a great win for the lowly Magpies, we wheeled out one of our secret weapons today, in Blazes(Roger), but the whole team played pretty well, squawked above our weight you could say

All you had to do Howie, was take a Piko special, In The Congo, and you would have beaten Wrinkly, and taken a 3-2 win.

Great win today Magpies, with the top aggregate, might have to adjust the market prices.

And thanks also to PJ, for yet another classic comp coming up

Some great tipping on your behalf as well! I have your scratching sub to thank for landing that BB quinella at Awapuni.

Great effort team Magpie, now for swoops on the shinies.

Ferdies pull one back with Rum or Te Toki, draw level with Clique or Sweet Anna (must pay $7.00+ or Te Toki complete the Q) and seize the lead with Dalmatia

Swamp Foxes go further ahead with King Farouk, Manolo or Impresa

Only 1 Kauri Kat on Our Alley Cat but never mind, kittykats ...we dodged a big bullet there.. Three of dem windy Turbos had Satu Lagi as a BB at $15.40 ..would given em about $1k head start ..LOL

MM

Very lucky indeed Maxi 😊 .... as Satu Lagi had to cross behind runners to get open space ...would have cost at least a length and a half ..... and went down by a length. If it had got the run on the rail it would have been game over. 🙂
Not bad for a horse resuming after an 18-month break.

Yep unlucky. Also got checked back when the Mitigator tried to slow the pace at around the 1000m mark. Hope that's not a sign of things to come. :classic_sad:
