Hot favourite Aquitaine will get the 'Five-Oh' over the line in the last .... Punter Pete against Howie.

Howie .....why didn't you take hot favourite Aquitaine in the last ??   🤔.
It's just that ....I had the choice in life of being beautiful or being clever ......and I went for beautiful.

#1 Ruuca is a late scratching in the last

To win-

Maximillions need:

Bold Style to win for Max (possibly 4-1 win if it pays $20.40+ or Niedorp completes the Q for Georgy)

Five-Oh need:

Aquitaine to win for Punter Pete (must pay $3.00 or Iced complete the Q)

OR

Iced to win for Punter Pete

OR

possibly a Better Reflection-Niedorp quinella in that order for John and hope it pays enough

The Tigers and The James Gang can't win

Howie you are on the sub (with the late scratching of Ruuca) which will almost certainly be Aquitaine

Five-Oh needed the quinella in the last to win it and Punter Pete obliged with a BB to down Howie with TC also scoring for the winners. Ashoka (also with a BB) and Howie scored the final dollars for MTF. Punter Pete's last race raid earned him Man of the Match honours while a revamped Rex was MVP for the Much Too Fast crew.

Bold Style never yelped for Maximillions so Hall of Fame held on for a very important win with all 5 Famers tipping the Godolphin winner with Jamison adding a BB. Max (also with a BB), Heather and Graeme ensured their side finished with a higher aggregate for a bonus point. Stevie N was Man of the Match while Rob was MVP for the Maxis.

1 THE JAMES GANG (4th)

$863.80

Covid-Y had it won before the last where Gary (with a BB) and Rocky earned their final $$. The James Gang finished strongly with all 5 on the winning fave while Hesi and Blind Squirrel added BBs. Rocky was Man of the Match for Covid-Y who took a bonus point for the 4-1 margin while his unlucky opponent Blind Squirrel was MVP for The Gang. Hesi's luck stays with him it seems....

77.00 Gary

76.00 Hesi

237.00 Ziggy

93.80 Pete

296.80 Rocky

284.00 Blind Squirrel

$945.80

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

4 ROLAND'S ROUGHNECKS (8th)

$1535.60

4 points
The Tigers Joker play was in jeopardy after two races (as Roland's side made a great start) and they could not recover despite 17 collects in the 2nd half of the card. The Jim Orman winner was selected by Gordy (with a BB) and all The Tigers bar Jill with BBs added by Sharne, Tom and Tigers' MVP Maurice. Gee was a very impressive Man of the Match bagging 3 longshots - two of them with BBs. Roland's Roughnecks took bonus points for a 4-1 margin and a team profit. Well done people ! and bad luck for The Tigers.

367.80 Maurice

109.00 PJ

294.00 Jen

158.00 Jill

274.00 Roland

101.00 Sharne

539.00 Gee

TABLE after ROUND 13

1st 33 Maximillions $16,835.40

2nd 32 Five-Oh $14,075.40*

3rd 27 Much Too Fast $14,649.60*

---------qualified for the finals above this line---------------

4th 22 James Gang $14,722.60*

------------finals qual mark--------------

5th 20 Covid-Y $13,955.20*

6th 19 Hall of Fame $14,507.80*

------------unable to qualify for the finals below this line------------

7th 15 Roland's Roughnecks $11,832.20*

8th 14 The Tigers $14,174.20*

The Maxis, who earned a bonus point despite losing, stay on top today but their lead in the Minor Premiership is cut to one point after Five-Oh got up in the last to defeat Much Too Fast who have made The Finals despite losing and not scoring a point. Defeat for The James Gang now sees two sides breathing down their neck for the last Finals berth after Covid-Y won impressively today and Hall of Fame also scraped through for a victory although they lost a place on the table. Roland's Roughnecks demolished The Tigers today and climbed above them although both sides are out of Finals contention, The Tigers' hope evaporating after an unsuccessful Joker play. Maximillions and Five-Oh will tough it out for the Minor Premiership in the last round. Going to be an exciting Final round next week....

Thanks Howie and team Much Too Fast for a great match - went right down to the wire with a few twists at the end - Aquitaine will win it for us, no it won't, yes it will!

Congrats Rex - great tipping today and great to have you back.

To my team-mates who carried me today - fantastic work.  Stonking finish Punter Pete!

Thanks, John.

An absorbing match where the lead swung backwards and forwards - made for a very exciting Saturday afternoon's entertainment ...again.
The winningest team in the comp with those fleet of 3-2 wins....you 'Five-Oh' guys sure know where that finishing line is. So not surprised to see that barn-storming finish.
Punter Pete was Geoff and my' team-mate in our very first PJ Comp back in the whenevers, for Butcher Boys I think it was....and he made a habit of doing then what he did today.

The very best of luck for your final Round Robin match, team 'Five-Oh'.....that Minor Premiership is beckoning.

I had a few dollars on 'Iced'in the last, @ $35 ......it's form was good ....but never thought to take the quinella. $50 return for each dollar invested would have been nice.

Hard luck my guys ....plenty of effort ....and we went very close. Top effort in particular from Rex ....showing why he's such a vital member of the team. Welcome back, Rex. Job well done.

Thanks again for another wonderful day's entertainment, PJ. Bad luck that your team struck Gee at his very best. The luck just didn't run your way this comp, because certainly your roster is the equal of any team in the comp.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks. 😊

Just looking at your team roster Pete ..... it's pretty impressive, and I don't think you'll be needing much help !
Your gang will be in this up to your ears !
