In Oz it is Fine and a Good 4 at The Valley and also the same at Randwick. With 3 Rounds remaining in the Round Robin it seems pretty clear that the top two - The Chiefs and The Blues - are guaranteed a Finals berth leaving 6 other franchises to fight over the 2 remaining slots. The 3rd-placed Magpies can take a big step towards securing one of those Finals spots when they have the option of a Triple Joker play against The Auckland Blues who are one place but 8 points ahead of them. The Magpies will be out for revenge after the Blues spoilt their last Triple Joker play in Round 5. Some fascinating HTHs here with The Blues boasting two of the top 3 in the Magnificent Seven - Pete and Roland - while The Chiefs lineup is graced by the comps No. 2 aggregate scorer - Ian. Suffice to say Rich, Jase and Stevie N all face tall tasks. My prediction - a narrow Pies victory... Top dogs The Chiefs face off against an out-of-sorts Kauri Kats outfit with each side coming off a 1-4 defeat last week. The Chiefs have a Regular Joker still to play (they successfully used their previous one against the Kauri Kats) while The Kats have a Triple Joker unspent but I am not sure either will deploy here. Rex, Dee and Steve P have the opportunity for revenge on their respective opponents Tom, Porky and Anita who dished out losses for them in their Round 5 meeting. Interestingly, the Kats feature two of the Unfortunate Five in old toms Graeme and Rex while The Chiefs are blessed with spell-casters Steve P and Porky - the comps two most Serendipitous competitors. Jack and Sharne also meet in the Battle of The Captains. Prediction: Narrow but shock Kats win..... Possibly the most important match of the Round sees the 4th-placed Otago Highlanders face up against the 6th-placed Manawatu Turbos with the result of great interest to many teams around them. Just 4 points and $430 aggregate separate these two very even teams who had a terrific tussle last time they met with The Turbos prevailing 3-2 with less than $20 separating them on aggregate as The Manawatu lads executed a successful Triple Joker play ! Both sides have a Regular Joker in their arsenal and may see this as a good opportunity to either a) shore up a Finals spot for The Highlanders or b) take the Otago boys place in the Top 4 for The Turbos. Blind Squirrel will be out to avenge his previous encounter with Craig when despite scoring $330 he went down by a margin of $227 while Gary probably has no idea what to expect other than a likely high-scoring encounter when he takes on Howie who manages to be both Magnificent and Unfortunate simultaneously ! Prediction: a narrow Otago win complete with Joker play... Lastly, its the Showdown in the Cellar for the desperate duo - The Swamp Foxes and The Ferdies - with The Swampies only one point better off but over $1000 aggregate inferior to a Naki outfit with no less than TWO Jokers locked and loaded. The Ferdies came unstuck playing a Regular Joker against the Swamp Monsters last time but will they be tempted again ?? The Swamp Foxes face an uphill struggle with all Jokers already deployed and 5 points adrift of a Finals Berth so need a big result here. The Unfortunate Robert has the unenviable task of seeking revenge on Ferdies top bull Maurice who defeated him last time they met in Round 7. Prediction: Narrow Ferdies win (well I would say that would I not ?? ......) Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent Please post on time.
