NPC Spring Super Comp 2024 - Round 11 - Sat October 19 - selection thread

ROUND 11 - Saturday October 19

Currently Overcast and a Good 4 at Ellerslie, Raining and a Heavy 8 at Randwick for Everest Day while Caulfield has Overcast weather and a Good 4 for Caulfield Cup Day.

It is top vs bottom as The Ferdies seek to take down The dominant Chiefs in the Battle of Mokau. The Taranaki crew are almost in must-win territory but they do have two Jokers up their sleeves and surprisingly a superior aggregate, while The Chiefs look a safe bet for the Finals but will be seeking to retain their top spot.  Top gun Taranaki bull Maurice takes on Waikato equal top scorer Gee in the feature HTH while the respective Captains - Jack and Hesi - do battle, seeking to inspire their sides.

A whopping 16 points separates the 2nd-placed Blues from their Southern opponents - the Highlanders - which many would not have foreseen when the comp kicked off. Blues Captain Pete - the top scorer in the comp to date - takes on a Serendipitous Rob in a fascinating encounter, while the Unfortunate Lightning Blue has his work cut out against the Magnificent Roland (2nd top scorer thus far).

The Turbos are 3 places and 5 points behind the Kauri Kats but may consider a shock Joker play after The Kats posted the lowest score in the previous round. Blind Squirrel may have to take one for the team as he faces down Magnificent tom Graeme while another Clash of the Captains sees Sharne matched up with Ian, each of them on 5 wins apiece.

Just 2 points and less than $300 aggregate separate the contenders in the final match where the Swamp Foxes clash with the Magpies in a battle to secure a Finals qualifying spot at the others expense. Robert takes on Magpies top gun Ian while Secret Squirrel is tasked with taking down Swampies Captain Black Caviar - all 4 of these competitors with a 4/6 win-loss record suggests some close clashes in those HTHs.
