ROUND 10 - Saturday October 12

Currently Overcast and a Heavy 8 at Te Rapa for Livamol Day while Caulfield has Fine weather and a Good 4 for a card featuring 3 million dollar plus features.

The day kicks off with one of those tricky MAAT races at Te Rapa followed by a mile hack and then the Sprint feature and a Rating 75 sprint preceding the Gr1 Livamol. Then it is on the plane to Melbourne where we start with a staying test featuring 13 imports including 8 Euro-breds in the Cups lead-up Herbert Power. A small but select field next in the Might And Power where great money will be on offer outside Mr Brightside. Then it is the Guineas where again any old price may be had other than hot fave Broadsiding. Quinellas will be the key to these two contests. The Schillaci Sprint is our penultimate event with a even lineup and then the puzzle that is the Toorak to round out proceedings in the all-important last throw of the dice - good luck with that one !

The big match of the day is the 4th-placed Turbos taking on the in-form leaders The Chiefs on the Waikato lads home track of Te Rapa - a tall order ! Last time they met The Turbos tried a Joker play and came away empty handed although their aggregates were close. Serendipitous King Porky will seek to cast his spell over the Magnificent Ziggy while the Unfortunate Gary will be bracing for the onslaught of Gee - another Magnificent Seven resident. Blind Squirrel will be out for revenge after an earlier defeat by Tom while the Captains clash again with Our Maizcay out to reverse the Round 4 result going down to Jack.

The Battle of Wellsford sees the Kauri Kats taking on the Auckland Blues with both sides looking to bounce back after last-start defeats and the Kats out to avoid a comprehensive defeat by The Blues in their last clash. Captain Sharne and veteran Rex have the toughest job taking on Captain Pete and Roland - the top Magnificent Seven duo - to whom they suffered respective defeats in Round 2. Roland is the top scorer in the comp so far and will look to inflict maximum pain on Rex - the most scored against competitor thus far. Uneven contest ? Hmmmm....My money is on the Kats in this one !

With both sides seeking to breach the Qualifying Plimsoll, The Swamp Foxes enter battle with the Highlanders with just a two point advantage but The Otago Lads have a superior aggregate (by less than $38!) in what promises to be a very close match. Star HTH looks to be the Unfortunate Robert taking on the Magnificent Howie where we already have a pre-race tactics advice that Robert will not be seeking to match Howie's usual lightning break out of the selection gates. Swampies Captain Black Caviar will be out for revenge over a 1st round defeat by Midnight Caller. In fact the Swamp Foxes scored the narrowest of wins (3-2) last time they met in Round 1 with Howie going down by less than $8 to Tassie in the deciding HTH.

The final match of the Round sees two of the 3 bottom sides - The Ferdies and Magpies - do battle. The 'Pies gave the Naki crew a 5-zip thumping in Round One and found good form last week comfortably seeing off a handy Highlanders outfit. The Ferdies nevertheless are coming off their own 5-zip success last week over the well-performed Turbos who currently hold a Top 4 qualifying slot so it is anyone's guess which way this will go. In Round 1 Stevie N defeated Hesi but has only won twice since while Hesi - after a slow start to the comp - has been posting excellent scores finishing in the top 3 in each of the last two rounds. Heather returned to form last week but faces Ian who is currently both Unfortunate and Magnificent while the Serendipitous Maurice will need all his spells in order to resist last weeks top scorer for the Bay Boys - Jase.

Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent

Best of luck to my Highlanders team-mates.
We're due another win . . . and there's every chance that will come this week.

Good luck too to my rival for this week, Robert.
Well done on Wild Night winning last week. Here's hoping you have another win this Friday when you line up your next runner.
Hope you find one or two also (one would be best ! 😁) in PJ's comp.

Captain Craig, please can you replace any of mine scratched after 7am Saturday. I'm home until then.

Many thanks for another very entertaining PJ Comp, PJ.

Yep, was up there with the best 3 year olds, then did virtually nothing as a 4 year old

Correct Hesi.

He had major back issues, and time, and wonderful management sees him back at the races. His next race is planned for Labour Day Monday at TeRapa.
