PWJ
Just for the benefit of those scoring and complete clarity: I decided not to have sub meetings this week given the temporary scorers are in action - whew I can hear them saying ! If any races (NZ or OZ) are abandoned, the balance of the 10 comp races will be run on Monday at The Warwick Farm Oz Labour Day meeting. Races will be advised on Sunday morning. Unless Hawera falls apart I do not think we will need them.

pete
The highlight was getting sent to report on the Hawera races. They were very generous with beer and food that day.

Mate, In my Stoney Bridge days we sponsored the mares feature on Saturday and it was the most enjoyable sponsorship engagement I ever had. The club looked after us like Kings and Queens - golf tournaments (those Harris boys usually dominated), champagne breakfasts (hard yakka at the start of a loooong day), lucrative Calcuttas and provided anything we asked for. The track is a bit shit usually (I hate that un-cambered turn) but the club are fantastic. My grandfather was in the team that plastered the ERC on the back of the main stand. He was a stock agent in the region 70-80 years ago. 1
