PWJ
ROUND 7 - Saturday September 21 On Wednesday it is Cloudy and a Heavy 10 at Wanganui, Overcast, Showers and a Good 4 at Caulfield and Fine and a Good 4 at Randwick. Ellerslie will substitute for any races which are not run at Wanganui due to any abandonment. You need to post for these before the usual closing time. The big match of the day is 1st vs 2nd as The Manawatu Turbos take on table leaders The Auckland Blues. The top guns of each team - Roland and Ziggy - meet in the feature HTH as The Blues deploy their Triple Joker, looking to put a gap on the rest of us. In a double Joker spectacular the Highlanders (regular Joker) take on The Chiefs (Triple Joker) in what should be a very even contest where the aggregates differ by less than $7 ! It is never a dull HTH where the Magnificent AND Unfortunate Howie is up against Porky while buddies Gee and Rob will be looking to out-wuffy each other before the tracks dry out. The Ferdies trail their opponents the Swamp Foxes by 3 points but are hoping a regular Joker play can see them sail past the Thames Valley crew. The Serendipitous Jammo will have his fur ruffled looking to see off The Duchess of Lepperton while Swampies top gun Robert will be looking to break the Magnificent AND Serendipitous mantle of Nakimeister Maurice. Lastly, the Battle of the Basement sees the Magpies and Triple-Joker brandishing Kauri Kats, separated by just one point, hoping to reach the halfway point and not be cellar dwellers. Plenty of fascinating HTHs here with sexy Rexy and Ian - two of the 3 highest scored-against competitors - will hope to inflict more pain on each other, the Serendipitous Jase will have his work cut out against Magnificent Dee while the Unfortunate Graeme will be hoping for a reversal against anothes Serendipitous Pie - Secret Squirrel. We start the day (hopefully) with 3 sprints at Wanganui varying in class from a tricky small-field maiden to kick off to the obligatory open handicap. A Rating 75 with 4 last start winners precedes the open feature mile. Then we head to Sydney for a couple of Group races with big fields and many chances and then it is the Tea Rose for the young girls where the first 3 home in the Furious rejoin battle with an extra 200m added. The $1m 7+ Sport sees a curiously small but quality field do battle before we duck down to miserable Melbourne for the Group 1 WFA Underwood for a terrific race 10 showdown. If you do not get this one right you could be in big trouble. Good luck everyone Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent Please post on time. Let's have some fun and note the closing time... Close off at 11.50am (NZ time) Races are: 1. Wanganui R2 - 12.50pm - Treadwell Gordon/Marsh Insurance Brokers Maiden - $25k, 1200m, maiden 3yo 2. Howard Atkinson
r1) 1-4 r2) 4-12 r3) 3-7 r4) 4-5 r5) 4-6 Best Bet NZ r6) 6-11 r7) 1-4 r8) 4-6 r9) 6-7 Best Bet Aus r10)2-11 Reserve Races r1) 1-2 r2) 1-2 Best Bet NZ r3) 3-8 r4) 2-11 r5) 9-12 I was labelled urgent leaving the gates, but Robert (Double R) and Rich (LookingForValue) were far too fleet of hoof and crossed me before I knew which way was up. 😊 So I'm having to settle for the 3-back along the fence, biding my time until the gaps appear. Astonished that with an indifferent 2 win:4 loss record I've somehow found myself in 'The Magnificent Seven.' Can't say that I'm feeling particularly magnificent this comp, but look . . . if PJ's happy . . . I'm happy ! 🙂 Pleased to be included in 'The Magnificent Seven.' The frown appears when I read that I'm the most 'picked on' performer in 'The Unfortunate Five' ! ☹️ The only player in the entire comp to have had in excess of $2K (an average $334 per game) scored against me. Am hoping against hope that the inimitable Porky, who is quite capable of getting carried away and scoring a massive total, doesn't get carried away this Saturday ! Pace yourself, Porky . . . get yourself about 7-back on the fence . . . look half-heartedly for the gaps that will never come . . . run on late when it is all over, thereby convincing your Captain that you were simply unlucky and worth including in the Chiefs roster the following Saturday. 😁 Best of luck, fellow Highlanders. I do believe we've got this ! Craig, please can you replace any scratchings for me that occur after 7am on Saturday, as I'll be out from then until close of entries. Sports coaching. Thanks, PJ. 5
