Only Gordy for The Jaffas and Turbo MVP Our Maizcay found the winning fave in the last. Rich was Man of the Match. No bonus points were earned. 324.60 Rich 135 Gary 234 Gordy 177.80 Blind Squirrel 222 Pete 244.80 Our Maizcay 31 Roland 197 Ziggy 370.40 Moose 84 Ray 2 SWAMP FOXES* (5th) $1288.00 0 (x 2 Joker play) equals 0 points 3 CHIEFS (2nd) $1599.00 3 points The Te Akau gelding got up in the last but it was not enough for The Swampies as a late plunge cut the price back substantially preventing Black Caviar jumping past Jack. The winner tipped by Tom and Porky for the victorious Chiefs while all The Swamp Foxes bar Punter Pete replied with BBs for all of them. Robert was MVP for Swampies (who blew their Joker play) while Man of the Match was Tom with Porky also posting an excellent tally. Stevie N was the MVP for The Bay Boys while Anita pipped Graeme for Match Star honours. The Joker play for the Kats proved highly successful as they doubled the bonus points awarded for the 4-1 margin and team profit. 97.80 Richie 418.60 Anita 115 Ian 279 Dee 197 Jason 365.40 Sharne 126.20 Secret Squirrel 400.20 Graeme 262.60 Stevie N 86 Rex 1 FERDIES (7th) $1088.00 0 points 4 HIGHLANDERS (6th) $1380.00 4 points The Ferdies could have turned it around with Cannon Hill but it just got too far back to win it so the Highlanders took an important win with Lightning Blue (with a BB), Midnight Caller and Howie making their final collects on the local winner. Ferdies Geoff and Maurice bagged BBs in the last for the Naki crew for whom Man of the Match Hesi also scored. PWJ
TABLE AFTER ROUND 8 Leaders The Blues won but their lead was cut down to 2 points as the chasing Chiefs also won and added a bonus point. The Kauri Kats won in style and made good use of a Regular Joker to climb over the Turbos (beaten by the table leaders) to secure 3rd. The Highlanders also won and made up a place to sit 5th, 3 points away from a qualifying spot. An defeat coupled with an unsuccessful Joker play saw the Swamp Foxes drop a place to 6th while the bottom two sides - The Ferdies & The Magpies lost and are now 5 points adrift of 6th.
