It's winter. They have a refurbished track with new drainage. A lot of the jumpers are hanging out for those sort of tracks. Surely that's not going to put the meeting at risk?

Well it didn't stop the same thing happening at Te Aroha which was also refurbished.

Where did you get the new drainage from? Details please.

This is all I can find, from the Hawkes Bay RC Facebook site

As a club, we are extremely disappointed for the two recent abandonments at the Mid-Summer Raceday on 25 January as well as the recent Little Avondale Lowland Stakes raceday on Wednesday. We acknowledge the disappointment and frustration these events have caused, and we recognise the need for immediate action.
Following Wednesday’s incident, we have undertaken an urgent review and have initiated immediate renovation works on our course proper. Our Track Manager has devised a comprehensive renovation plan, which has been scrutinised by turf specialists to ensure the desired outcomes.
We have also engaged with the New Zealand Jockeys Association to understand their concerns and intend to involve them in the process to restore confidence in Hastings Racecourse among jockeys, trainers, owners, and other stakeholders.
Due to the partial abandonment on Wednesday, the Group 2 Lowland Stakes Raceday has been relocated to Taupo. Additionally, the Hawke’s Bay Cup, previously scheduled for Saturday 13 April, will no longer be held at Hastings Racecourse. We are currently liaising with industry stakeholders to determine the next steps regarding this event.
We extend our gratitude to our loyal supporters for their unwavering commitment during this challenging period. We are confident that with the completion of the renovation, Hastings Racecourse will regain its status as a venue of confidence and reliability.
Yours in Racing

I understood that verti-draining was part of the refurbishment process but nor sure where I read or heard that.

  • Thanks 1

Forecast looks pretty good after today too. We have one in, a heavy tracker, so I was a bit biased about it going ahead!

Fair enough. Good luck.
