🙂  Yes it was rather a ridiculous number of people that thought they needed to do that wasn't it ...  🙂

apologies if my response caused upset

i just thought that maybe there was not enough thought or recognition of effort that went into the comment “I think you may have missed that!”

but feedback noted thank you, and next time I’ll leave it to the organisers

Doubt you upset anyone Maizey. all in good fun.

you're showing a great turn of foot , and leading the field to Victory 🏆. (all going well 😁)

BC was looking for late Best Bets to try and close the gap to you on the ladder after a close 2nd last time in the Lucky Sevens GF to another real Beasty animal 😆 pouring the pressure on for a Cup victory. as PJ put here.

Possibly thwarted by being Carlton supporter too, with the mighty Brissy Lions putting paid to them last Finals 🦁. That could repeat this year too.

Lightning Blue (1st) is our Lucky Seven 2023-24 Champion holding off late finishes from Black caviar (BB quinella) and Tassie Tiger (Q) to win by less than $43. LB tipped 6 of 7 winners adding two quinellas and a 1st/3rd BB which proved critical.

Best of Luck to you to hold em' All out through the Finals weeks .🏆

i'm thinking that maybe Peter records the picks during the course of the morning and if you edit after he has jotted yours down then he has no way of knowing you've made an edit unless you tell him or make the edit in a new post

Okay....

BC had every right to query his BB. A couple of people explained the rule to him. OM in this post explained why there is such a rule. I thought everyone had a civil tone. I cannot understand why anyone should take exception to the post and replies.

I enter selections in my scoring sheets as they are posted and in the chronological order they appear. This is why amendments of any sort need to be in a new post. If I were to go back, read and check the entire thread and make subsequent adjustment to selections after closing time it would mean moving closing time back much earlier which would inconvenience many people.

For what it is worth, I enter the selections on an A4 paper template (8 entries per page in chronological order) and then enter the competitors names on to an excel sheet for scoring purposes. After each race I update the written A4 sheets with any additions to the scores and then transfer the changes to the totals on to the excel sheet which is then re-ordered by score and cut and pasted to the results thread, after I have entered the race results and dividends. This is why I get impatient when there is a world pool and I cannot start the results process until I know the NZ TAB dividends which are of course inaccessible to me due to geo-blocking. The Cup draw also cannot be made until after all selections have been posted because (obviously) I do not know who is playing on any given day until after closing time.

I try to keep the comp rules as simple and straightforward as possible but I understand that not everyone can be au fait with every rule.

FYI - IF you want to know how the draw is done it is this:

1) The name of every entrant is written down in order of posting: 1,2,3,4,etc

2) Then, every odd numbered entrant is given a 1-16 assigned number (in the case of 32 entrants) in order of posting. Every even numbered entrant is also given a 1-16 assigned number in order of posting. Last Saturday Steve P posted first and got assigned No.1 on the odds list, Gary was 2nd  and was given No.1 on the evens list, Secret Squirrel posted third and was given No.2 on the odds list, etc.

3) I then go to the acceptances (usually of a meeting not in the comp that day) and find two races with 16 (or more acceptors). The barrier draws for the racebook order for the first race determines the order of the odd-numbered entrants then the barrier draws from the racebook order for the second race determines the order of the even-numbered entrants. These were the two races from Saturday I used for the draw. Steve P was the very first poster and was assigned No.1 in the odds list (see Cranky Harry), then in the draw he was given the number for the draw (in racebook order) of 8. Gary was the 2nd poster and was assigned the No.1 position in the evens (see Redstone Well who drew 4), Steve P was drawn against the person in the even list who drew the horse with the matching barrier position of 8. This was Anita who was the penultimate poster in the evens list, care of the barrier draw of 8 for Time Quest.

For me, this is the easiest way to do the draw. It is almost tamper-proof from manipulation.

Try to have a good week everyone. It is colder than Kiwiland here with overnight lows of 3c predicted for the weekend and snow on Barrington Tops ranges just North of here.

Thanks PJ. Very clear and concise. That is exactly the reason for my post. I did not realise I had made an error and was asking if my BB total could be included. You run such a precise operation that thought you would be somewhat aggrieved if a competitor did not have the right total.

I directed my query to you. To have four other members basically call me out as a cheater was a bit harsh. Now I also accused of not putting enough thought in to my post. It was a simple question not a complaint. This reeks of the keyboard warrior mentality. A little empathy is sometimes a good thing.

I seem to have upset a number of your team. So please remove my scores from the comp table. Maybe I have another go next year and try to be error free. You run a fantastic operation. Watching the results on A Saturday is the highlight of my weekend.

Cheers,

BC

I didn't see anyone calling you a cheat BC. I honestly think people were just trying to be helpful. You haven't upset anyone as far as I can tell.

Please reconsider pulling out of the comp - it's totally unnecessary but of course it's over to you.

Just looking back over the posts, they appear to have been informative in a helpful way, so no need to pull out.  You're a colourful character BC, and we appreciate you as an entrant in PJ's comps

Stick around BC, please. Just 3 weeks to go and I cannot wait to see who will win The Jenlove Memorial Cup - Ian, OM, Moz, Jammo or yourself or even one of the quartet of roughies on 12 points.

I am sure those who replied to you were not insinuating cheating. My apologies for not replying sooner. I was tied up in a battle with the ATO which I ultimately won yesterday. Everyone turn the page and move on, please.

I've only just come on to see this silliness.    OM stop being so pathetic...   It was all said in jest ...   you posted and then everyone posted basically saying the same thing.    Hence my comment.

What a precious lot you are.

Here on Raceplace every post that is edited shows... on other sites if you edit a post it doesn't matter or show as edit unless 10 mins have passed, so it's very easy to flick back over posts here and see if anyone has edited and do a quick check.   It's not arduous in a small comp.

so you're suggesting that as well as recording all the picks and doing H2H draws and posting results, Peter should also find time to sweep through all the picks one more time and check if anyone has edited their picks?

i think much easier for people to post in a new post but hey ....
