Apropos of nothing I thought I would share this for those interested in breeding. My daughter Ceilidh bought this mare in an online sale this week for a mere $600. By a Golden Slipper winner and a half-sister to a European Champion Sprinter and dual Royal Ascot Group One winner. The mare has a rising 2yo in work with Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott by super sire Extreme Choice. She should be very pleased with herself.

Right now she is on a plane from Sydney to Auckland and then on to Chile and then Brazil where she will give her first public lecture in the city of Fortaleza on her specialist subject of stallion fertility and performance in older stallions at the World Equine Genetics conference. Very proud of her.

Another tricky race sees the first casualties of the day as Richie, Geoff and Blind Squirrel are refused boarding for Brisbane while Pete, Rees and Rob lose a life. Ziggy (1st), Lightning Blue (2nd) and Midnight Caller (2nd also) hold station at the head of the field with Craig (1st) now up to 4th ahead of PJ (2nd) and Rob (miss). Due to Craig moving up Pete (miss) and Gordy (2nd) lose a spot with Anita (2nd BB) holding in 9th and Steve P (1st) into the points as Porky (2nd) and Jammo (2nd BB) drop out. Gary snags the quinella heading the rest. Quinellas also for NG, Hesi and Gee. Maria and Punter Pete still debating who will be Timid Terri/Terry. Off across the ditch we go....

We lose Hesi and Stevie N but everyone else stays intact as Zig makes every post a winner by bagging a BB on the old former Melbourne Cup winner. LB (1st/3rd) and MC (1st) maintain the chase behind with Pete jumping up to 4th with a quinella. PJ (2nd/3rd) holds 5th while Craig (3rd) loses two spots down to 6th and Rob (3rd) drops one to 7th ahead of Gary (1st/3rd) up 3 places to 8th. The points are rounded out by the trifecta strikers Secret Squirrel and Ian mounting their run from the rear. Gordy, Anita (both 2nd/3rd) and Steve P (3rd only) drop out of the points. Maria and Punter Pete still cannot be split in their HTH battle which is also a tussle for Timid Terri/Terry honours....

Some carnage in the last as we lose the 7 above while a first life was lost by Maria, Howie, Punter Pete and leader Ziggy who nevertheless held on to win the Round - well done mate (and even the Warriors won!). Craig snagged the quinella to make up ground for 2nd while Lightning Blue (2nd BB) dropped to 3rd, that pair securing a profit bonus point in the last. Midnight Caller (2nd BB also) lost a spot to secure 4th ahead of PJ (2nd), Pete (2nd), while Anita made it into the points with a Quinella ahead of the last 3 points scorers Ian (2nd), NG (2nd/3rd) and Our Maizcay who struck the quinella to snatch the final point. Maria hands the Timid Terry jersey over to Porky to take home for a wash. Thanks everyone. Next week we go to Te Rapa and Sunshine Coast.

Leader Our Maizcay bagged a point in the last to slightly extend his lead over Maurice who self-destructed in the last (should have gone to Specsavers !). Anita made up some ground on the leading pair while Craig joins Ian in equal 4th after a great effort for runner-up today. PJ breaks into the top 10 after a few weeks of drought prior to the win last week.
