PWJ
ROUND 7 - Saturday September 16 Comp Race 10 - Flemington R9 1st - 5 Star Patrol W-$4.60 2nd - 1 King of Sparta Q-$12.00 Scr: 11 3 FERDIES*** (3rd) $1552.60 3 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = 9 points 2 BLUES*** (2nd) $1282.20 0 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = -1 point None of The Blues' 3 chances could get into the finish so The Ferdies held on to win with a successful Triple Joker play adding a bonus point for a team profit. The final winner tipped by Ferdies Maurice (with his 4th quinella) and Heather (her 7th winner in 8 races) plus Blues Moose and Smiler who each bagged BBs. Geoff was 'Naki MVP with 7 winners and a big tally while Gordy - who tipped the first 7 winners - was an imperious Man of the Match. The Blues suffer a one point deduction for an unsuccessful Triple Joker play. The Melham winner tipped by Magpie Stevie N, who snagged the Q as did Turbo Ray with the latter securing Man of the Match honours while Stevie N was MVP for the Bay boys. The Turbos took a consolation point for a higher aggregate. 233.20 Antz 184.20 Our Maizcay 145.80 Ian 372.60 Ray 227 Richie 330.60 Blind Squirrel 220.40 Secret Squirel 157.20 Ziggy 301.80 Stevie N 206 Gary 3 HIGHLANDERS* (6th) $816.80 2 (x 2 Joker play) = 4 points 2 KAURI KATS*** (5th) $437.40 0 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = -1 point The Kats had nearly half the field going for them to save their day in the last but they couldn't secure the desired result although Najeem Suhail must have got them excited for a while, so the Joker-playing Highlanders held on to win. The final winner tipped by Highlander Howie on his own as The Kats all missed. Midnight caller was Man of the Match in a relatively low-scoring affair while Graeme was MVP for the Kauri Kats crew. Just one point separates them as we head into the second half of the comp. Defeat for the Blues saw them slip back to 3rd, 8 points adrift of the 'Pies while the day's other big movers were The Highlanders climbing two places with a Jokered win over The Kauri Kats who lost a place as did The Swamp Foxes with their loss. The Turbos remain 7th despite a bonus point but are only 4 points from a Finals spot while The Chiefs finally cracked a win as they begin their climb up the table. PWJ
Unrelated but proud step-father this week... This is my foal for this year, born on Wednesday (photo taken at just a few hours old). The filly is by Snitzel Gr1 winner Wild Ruler (you might remember him winning the Moir Stakes at The Valley). The foal is from his first crop. Mum in the pic is my mare Party Jewel, who is a half-sister to Champion Sire Written Tycoon. Mare has foaled down at Milford Thoroughbreds, Euroa, VIC She visits Pierata this year - I'm sure you remember him ! - on a foal share I have done with Hong Kong billionaire Justin Fung, one of Yulong's owners.
