Who are you chaps thinking wins it this year? I know it’s early doors but I think it’s out of the Roosters and Panthers. If I was looking for a long shot I’d probably take the Broncos.

Yeah I’d agree re the NRL doing it but I don’t think it has as much impact as it’s normally grounding or onside rather than a minuscule knock on two rucks ago.

Yip I’d agree with those comments. One thing that really annoys me with rugby is the constant looking for every single slight issue to rule out a try.

Bulldogs and cowboys was an awful game. Hard to see either going anywhere near making the 8.
  5. Isn't it already funded through the problem gambling levy?
  6. Yeah fair enough re it being a racing site, I just find it interesting as to how far you would spread the policy. I think the idea is a bit of over reach and the idea of having to prove you can afford in a drink in bar or restaurant, in any form is a bit crazy but each to their own.
  7. I never suggested it made any difference. I was just asking if you bet on tote products.
  8. Presumably on that basis it should also be bought in for Cigarettes and Alcohol purchases? Both of which can be harmful to the family budget.
  9. Slightly different to a bank with a credit limit though as you are not borrowing anything. Your essentially applying to spend your own money. I can’t see it being anything but a disaster due to the compliance hassle. I certainly wouldn’t apply to be able to spend my own money on something and that would probably be the end of my involvement in racing.
  10. Seems like a massive over reach to me and I wouldn’t be comfortable providing a tab operator with that kind of information. I think promoting the self exclusion system is a more practical solution I personally can’t see how you would implement it practically without driving punters away in droves. How would it work on course? Bring your bank statement and rates bill to cup day?
  11. Karori are involved with West who got relegated a few years back. They do have a senior rugby team, granted it’s not in the top flight but that’s party due to them being relegated and the competition format changing shortly after. Wests have one of the strongest junior set ups in Wellington and good junior numbers but they loose them all at secondary school as there is no college in their area and other city clubs tend to recruit them from college.
  12. There are so many global opportunities for New Zealand rugby players, even at a club level so I think that’s a bit to do with it. The club I am involved in regularly has players going offshore even to places like Romania and Sri Lanka. I think Hesi is probably also partly right there are plenty concerned re head knocks and rugby has a huge churn after secondary school. I also think Barry makes a good point about the demographics of Greytown.
  13. I would think in general people filling out bet slips on course or in a tab are in the minority. I don’t so much have an issue with it if they are quick it but agree it’s frustrating when they are taking complicated $1 percentage first fours on the hoof. Withdrawals and deposits on busy days are a pain but most operators I have seen are pretty good at telling them to wait if it’s close to the jump of a race and free online deposits and quick bank withdrawals have helped eliminate this to some extent. I also get frustrated in Pub Tabs when someone starts looking through Turkish second division Soccer games that are 3 weeks away for there multi that has no chance of success and there’s only one machine.
  14. I am happy to be involved, just a quick question is it vital to be free on the evening of the 11th for the draft if you are involved? I may not be free depending on what time the draft is done.
  15. It would be the same as any futures bet wouldn't it?

  17. I agree Barry, Investnow is great and has a good range of funds.

    NZ TAB??.

It’s a recent change and yes they are only offering them on metro meetings. Looking at some of the country meetings the pools were fairly small.
  19. I think the return was $96 for $100 share. They had $76K on Amarelina in the last.
  20. Where do you think the value is in race 8 at the Palm Beach puppies tomorrow Mardi?
